Boom! THE MARS PATROL is back with a brand-spanking new single - SHAKE IT UP.

Hot on the heels of their previous well-received release THAT'S WHAT YOU GET, the Scottish, London-based pop-rock outfit set out to get you all hot under the collar on the latest single to be taken from 4-track EP, Landline. Are you ready to get down and dirty?

Short, snappy, and sexily smutty - SHAKE IT UP sounds like The Killers had they been fronted by a young Meredith Brooks during a time when U2 were cutting production edges with Zooroopa, and when any tune that didn't make its point within three minutes, was rendered with the threat of decapitation for not hitting the mark quickly enough.

Designed with dirty disco floors in mind, SHAKE IT UP'S equally provocative lyrics – "Your eyes they take a picture/ And I know you'll use it later" – hint at that sexual metaphorical storage centre where the defining beauty of singer and narrator, Davina Divine, can be mentally recalled at a more convenient time by her band's ever-admiring legion of listeners and onlookers.

Indeed. A band who bestow one of the most envious grassroots followings in the world, THE MARS PATROL include many of their hardcore fans in the single's accompanying video – including fellow Scot, TV presenter and celebrity, Gail Porter. During the 2.35-minute shoot, we see Sumo wrestlers getting all shook up with one another, a man who gets into a bit of a gallop when he dresses up as a horse, as well as a goth couple who just about manage to turn their frowns upside down long enough to be captured on camera. Add some body-poppin' breakdancers, a pregnant woman about to drop, and an unlikely-energetic old man to the mix, and you've got a bizarrely eclectic video that will light up your eyes and prick up your ears. Oh, and don't forget the dog.

But that's not all. THE MARS PATROL is pleased to announce the release of a juicy B-side combo: an acoustic and lounge version of SHAKE IT UP that not only proves their flexibility and dynamism, it also shows off their fun 'n' funky sense of humour, too. With such talent aboard THE MARS PATROL mothership, no wonder other bands wish their A-sides could sound as good as THE MARS PATROL'S B-sides.

Noted for their self-sufficient work ethic, THE MARS PATROL could rival James Brown as the hardest working men and women in show-business. With worldwide followings ranging everywhere from Japan to Canada, they are one of few self-funded groups to successfully tour the USA. The Scots-born, London-based act have also strutted their stuff on the same stages as KT Tunstall, Kula Shaker, The Feeling, Rooster, Hanson, Orson, The Rifles and Finley Quaye.

Gigging in April and May, 2011 aims to be a star-shooting year for THE MARS PATROL.

THE MARS PATROL is: Davina Divine (vocals/ songwritng); Ross Nelson (guitar/ songwritng); James
Williamson (guitar); Stephen Parker (bass); Matt Baker (keyboards); Lewis Searle (drums).
